A service or group cable can contain different kinds of core groups, such as control wires, data wires and power wires. The attributes of these core groups are identified in the cable attribute "Cable Structure", with the individual core group attributes separated by "," as shown below:

"CoreGrp1_Specification1_CoreNumberSeqVariant1CoreGroupSeqVariant1_CoreNumber1, CoreGrp2_Specification2_CoreNumberSeqVariant2CoreGroupSeqVariant2_CoreNumber2..."

Example:

The "Cable Structure" attribute of a service cable used for connecting an SEL axle counter shows the entry "A_12_B1_4,AZSV__A1_2". This indicates that the service cable contains the two core groups "Axle Counters" ("A_12_B1_4,AZSV__A1_2") and "Axle Counters - Power Supply" ("A_12_B1_4,AZSV__A1_2").

The specification of the axle counter core group (for SEL axle counters, it corresponds to the bus number) is 12 ("A_12_B1_4"). Core number sequence variant "B" ("A_12_B1_4") indicates that the cores of this core group are subsequently combined with the cores of another cable that have the same specification (i.e., the same bus number) into one group cable (rather than being added together). Core group sequence variant "1" ("A_12_B1_4") indicates that the cores of the axle counter core group run through the same cable as those of the axle counter power supply core group. The number at the end of the core group attribute indicates the number of cores required for the core group "A_12_B1_4".

In the example shown above, the core group of the axle counter power supply "AZSV" has no specification; it comes with core number sequence variant "A" (i.e., the cores continuously run from the axle counter to the interlocking point), core group sequence variant "1" and it requires 2 cores for the power supply of the axle counter.

The "Cable Structure" attribute is automatically filled with data and updated as part of the cabling process, based on the object attributes provided. However, the user has the option of changing the data via the function "Insert Service Cable with Core Groups" if the data does apply in the case of a given cabling project.
