Using the AutoCAD system variable "EXTNAMES", you can set a default for so-called "Named Objects" (e.g., layers, line types, etc.), by which only the name conventions from AutoCAD 14 ("EXTNAMES" = 0) or the ones from AutoCAD 2000 ("EXTNAMES" = 1, standard setting) are applied. If "EXTNAMES" comprises the value 0, it prevents any new layers from being created that do not fulfill the AutoCAD 14 conventions. In order to furthermore create such layers from the layer configuration being loaded, or to assign equally "unfulfilling" line types from the layer configuration being loaded, "EXTNAMES" is temporarily assigned the value 1 when loading a layer configuration. Prior to ending the function, the original value is assigned once again.
